Bird Baths

Birdbaths are manmade water basins designed to stand on pedestals or hang from eaves or trees. No matter how they are constructed or where they are placed, birdbaths are considered traditional additions to backyards everywhere and have always been a main attraction for birds. Shop our wide variety of bird baths, decorative bird baths, heated bird baths, glass bird baths, copper bird baths and so many more!

You wont find your wild birds swimming laps so these shallow basins only need to be filled with two to three inches of water. Most birds will swing in to clean their feathers from the dirt and debris collected during flight, grab a drink of water, or simply cool off.

Birdbaths can be placed just about anywhere in your backyard and birds will come. Fresh clean water isn’t always plentiful for some birds. Providing a source for your birds year round will ensure some repeat visitors. Parent birds will often bring their chicks to birdbaths for their first bath. Other wild birds that you might typically not find feeding in your neighborhood will instantly be drawn to the pool. Robins, orioles, cardinals, wrens, chickadees and more have all been spotted wading from time to time in backyard birdbaths.

Standard birdbaths are simply designed to hold water. However, USA Bird Supply offers other varieties such as heated birdbaths and interchangeable decorative birdbaths so they not only provide water for the birds but they provide a visual appeal to your backyard. Heated birdbaths do not heat the water in the basin but rather prevent it from freezing and offering a source of water when it may be hard to find during a drought.

Birds prefer shallow birdbaths with enough traction to wade in the water as they splash around. If your birdbath surface is smooth, try providing small stones or rocks in the base to improve the bird's footing. Change the water and scrub birdbaths often in warm weather to prevent harmful bacteria growth. Be sure to check out our birdbath accessories for additional items such as cleaning brushes, stones for the bottom of your basin and more.

If you feed the birds, place your bird feeder nearby for convenience, but at a distance far enough to prevent seed from collecting in the water. Make sure your bath has plenty of perching room along the side of the bath to ensure your friends have a place to rest and drink.

Whichever style birdbath you choose; heated, glass, terra cotta or ceramic or one of our interchangeable pedestal birdbaths and whether it is in your garden or under a tree, wild birds of all kinds will stop to pampering themselves and enjoy.
